The Appalachian Trail stretches over 2,000 miles and through 14 states, the longest hiking-only footpath in the world. In Hiker Trash, readers get a chance to meet some of the community of hikers who have taken to walking some or all of this path. Every person has their own reasons and motivations–and everyone leaves with more than they brought at their first step. Were I a braver soul, I might take to the trail myself. As it is, I’m glad to live vicariously through the words and pictures in this eclectic and interesting book filled with sketches, hand-written notes, and photographs.
