You Deserve Each Other, by Sarah Hogle

It would be easy to do, but calling YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER a simple romantic comedy would overlook and undermine the emotional complexity of Sarah Hogle‘s characters and story.

Naomi and Nicholas went from dating to in love to engaged very quickly–maybe, Naomi things, too quickly. Come to think of it, does she even like Nicholas? The battle begins when Naomi realizes that perhaps she isn’t the only one looking for an out. The pair sabotage every situation until neither Naomi nor Nicholas can trust one another (or themselves). Each day is consumed by verbal barbs, questionable flora, petty actions (or inactions), and all-out subterfuge until they break. The question is: will this break the thing that finally pushes them apart? Or what binds them together once and for all?

YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER is a fun, funny, sweet story set in my home state of Wisconsin. It’s refreshing and filled with moments that made me gasp in shock, chuckle, and smile. A fun diversion from the serious books that have been taking up my reading time of late!
