The Bridesmaid, by Cate Quinn

The biggest wedding in New York City society is only days away. Bride-to-be Adrianna Kensington strikes fear into the hearts of vendors tripping over themselves to make her dream wedding a reality. But one terrifying discovery—the bruised, bloodied, and beaten body of one of her bridesmaids—could bring Adrianna’s carefully crafted ceremony crumbling down in seconds.

The Kensingtons will only accept the best of the best, which is how freelance forensic attorney Holly Stone finds herself going undercover as an unlikely bridesmaid replacement. Her mission: uncover which of the five hand-picked bridesmaids is a killer before they strike again on the family’s private Caribbean island.

Holly Stone is my favorite kind of character. She’s an intelligent, quick-witted professional woman with a unique, distinctive style—and here’s my favorite part: she’s a plus-size lead in a thriller where her body is never the focus of the story. I love her wit, her humor, and her palpable humanness. Kudos to Cate Quinn for crafting such an amazing character.

Cate Quinn’s The Bridesmaid takes readers behind the scenes of a tangled web of crimes, from high society New York City to a destination wedding on a private island. The plot is an impressive puzzle whose final picture refuses to settle clearly until every last piece is uncovered—and the revelations are worth the wait.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Sourcebooks Landmark for the free ARC of The Bridesmaid in exchange for my honest review.
