I wasn’t going to read Time’s Convert. After absolutely loving A Discovery of Witches and then struggling a bit to love Shadow of Night and The Book of Life as much, I figured I was done with Matthew and Diana’s world. And then I found a used copy that was a library discard. (Tangent: Have I ever noted how much I adore library discards? Because I do. They are my favorite kind of used book to find. They are often gently worn from all of the hands that have held the same book and have that library smell and are just the best. But, anyway, I digress.)

So, there I was with my library discard in the mountains of Tennessee on vacation. I had started reading it as a real-time read-along, but as soon as I got started, I couldn’t wait. Once again I was pulled into the magical world that Deborah Harkness creates. While Time’s Convert focuses on Marcus, the story features many of the souls readers of the series have come to know and love. One of my favorite features of this author’s writing is the subtle humor that she infuses into even the most serious of scenes.

Time’s Convert renewed my love of and appreciation for the whole world I was introduced to in A Discovery of Witches. This story, while not a part of the trilogy, is my second favorite of the bunch. So glad I read it after all.
