I keep starting and stopping as I write this review. I’m trying to figure out how to adequately express just how much I enjoyed Cat Got Your Diamonds. I’m tempted to gush and run on and on about it, but I also want my words to come across as sincere because this Kitty Couture mystery is outstanding.
After breaking up with her cheating fiance, New Orleans native Lacy Crocker has returned home to Louisiana to open her own shop – Furry Godmother, a store dedicated to giving the areas pets simply the best. Lacy is a talented baker and an even more talented seamstress. She’s imaginative and creative and has high hopes of making Furry Godmother a success in her beloved hometown. Her dream comes to a screeching halt when Lacy surprises a supposed thief in her shop. Terrified, Lacy grabs for the nearest weapon – a glitter sprayer – and decorates the intruders face before taking off to call the cops. But when she returns to make her statement, the thief is dead and Lacy is the prime suspect. A murder investigation is bad for business, not to mention bad for her family’s reputation, and Lacy is determined to clear her name and get her dream back on track, especially since it seems the lead Detective in the case, Jack Oliver, isn’t looking into any other suspects except for Lacy. The on-page chemistry between Lacy and Jack positively crackles, and her friendship with BFF Scarlet is heartfelt.
I can’t say enough great things about this book and this author. I have read other books by Julie Chase, who also writes as Julie Anne Lindsey, and her Geek Girl mystery series is among my very favorites. It’s clear that her new Kitty Couture series is on the same lofty level. I’m hooked and can’t wait to read more, more, more!

Synopsis
Grandeur and opulence are everything in the famed New Orleans Garden District where pets are family and no bling is too big. Opening Furry Godmother, pet boutique and organic treat bakery, is Lacy Marie Crocker’s dream come true–until the glitter gun used to make her Shih Tzu tutus becomes a murder weapon. And Lacy becomes public enemy #1.
Now Detective Jack Oliver is hounding Lacy, and her Furry Godmother investor wants out before his name is tarnished by association. To make matters worse, a string of jewel heists with suspicious ties to the murder case has New Orleans residents on edge. To save her dream, Lacy must take a stand, put her keen eyes to work, and unravel what really happened at her shop that night. But can Lacy sniff out the killer cat burglar in time to get her tail-raising designs on the catwalk?
