You Better Watch Out, by James S. Murray and Darren Wearmouth

Looking for a little creepy calamity in your Christmas? Look no further than You Better Watch Out. This holiday horror thriller follows a select group of people who find themselves in an impossible situation days before Christmas: fighting for their lives. Who would have thought that the very best gift would simply be surviving the night?

After a botched burglary attempt, petty thief Eddie wakes up in a snow bank during a blizzard in a strangely familiar—yet not at all familiar—town. As he cautiously investigates where he is and how he got there, Eddie quickly finds two more people similarly awakening in the strange and otherwise deserted town.

Answers are few and far between, while more and more questions loom large over the small group wandering through the snow. What quickly becomes very clear is that they are being hunted. Enclosed in a shabby replica of an upstate New York town circa 1936, booby traps abound, and the body count rises rapidly.

In a literal fight for their lives, who will make it to Christmas morning?

I enjoyed the plot and pacing, and the gruesome twist that concludes the story is cunningly clever. Check out this Christmas-time thriller and add a little mayhem under your mistletoe.
