Hi, I’ve Evie Starr. I’m very pleased to meet you.
What is your current state of mind?
Worried. Confused. Happy. I’m going through the whole gamut of emotions right now. I’m looking forward to Christmas but I’m anxious about the family finances. I’m also concerned about my niece.
What is your favorite word?
I don’t really have one. I could pretend I do – but I don’t. Snowflake is dear to my heart. I live in Snowflake Inn on Snowflake Isle in Snowflake Cove. The word ‘Snowflake’ features heavily in my life.
What is your least favorite word?
Penniless. We’re getting close to that and we need a miracle and some Christmas magic to turn things around for us.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Being with my family in the kitchen of our inn, drinking hot chocolate and Baileys, and singing along to carols playing on the radio. I’m easily pleased.
Which historical figure do you most identify with?
Cleopatra. Although with my wild ginger hair and freckles, I look nothing like her. I’m frightened of snakes, too, so I wouldn’t kill myself with an asp but I do like figs. Although some people say she didn’t die from a snake bite. Sorry. What was the question? I tend to go off on a tangent at times.
Which living person do you most admire?
My gran, Jessie Starr. There is no one else like her on this planet.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Christmas lights and decorations. I love them and I could happily blow the budget . . . but I have to restrain myself.
What is your favorite journey?
I haven’t traveled much. We don’t have the money. My dream journey would be from London to Venice on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
On what occasion do you lie?
I only lie if telling the truth would hurt someone I love.
What is your greatest regret?
Not having an alternative career to fall back on if the family business fails.
Where would you most like to live?
I’m already living there. Snowflake Cove.
Who or what is the greatest love of your life?
My family are my greatest love . . . so far. But I’ve got the hots for a particular TV show host called Zachary Thorn.
When and where were you happiest?
I’ve had a very happy life but I think I’m happiest where I am – in Snowflake Inn with my family. I suppose that sounds boring but I’ve never had any great ambitions or needed some special event to make me happy. I was exceedingly happy when my sister decided she wanted a room of her own and we no longer had to share.
Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d love to be able to bake. My gran is an exceptional baker.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Only one thing? Um . . . I’d like to be freckle-free.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
The Scarlet Pimpernel. Such heroism. Such passion. Such wit. Such great clothes.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I’ve never really thought about it. I’m happy doing what I’m doing. If I could bake, I might attempt to open a cake shop.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Putting up with my sister without killing her. Don’t get me wrong, I love Severine – but she drove me nuts when we were younger. I was happy when she moved away.
What is your personal motto?
Think before you speak. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to do that.
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
You’ve come to the wrong address. There’s not much chance of that though. Snowflake Inn is hardly a den of iniquity and as I’m already 34, I can’t see myself living a wild or sinful life.
Thank you so much for having me. If you’re ever in Snowflake Cove, come to Snowflake Inn for a drink and a chat. I’ll introduce you to my family. We’re all looking forward to Christmas and I’d like to wish you and your readers a very Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays, from everyone in Snowflake Inn.
