My Thoughts
Sometimes it’s hard to be a woman – especially when you’re trying to get ahead in a male-dominated career like gaming. But Tessa is determined. She knows she has the skills – she just needs the opportunity.
Adam, Tessa’s roommate and coworker, encourages her to socialize more with the coding team at the video game company at which they both work. An introvert by nature, putting herself out there doesn’t come easily for Tessa, but she’s willing to give it a shot. When the company receptionist invites Tessa to join her and some friends to watch one of her favorite television shows, she not only makes a new set of friends, but runs head-first into an opportunity to prove herself.
The unexpected complication is the growing attraction between Adam and Tessa. The author does a really great job of showcasing their relationship with a good balance of sexual tension and romance. An introvert myself, I related easily to Tessa – and I really liked the character of Adam.
Level Up is a quick read, and an enjoyable one. I got caught up in the story right away and really enjoyed it. There are a few plot points that were easy to see coming, but I was having so much fun with the rest of the story that the predictability barely registered.  Overall, I think Level Up is a sweet and smart contemporary romance.
