Once again, LynDee Walker takes her readers on a riveting investigation in Richmond. Her Nichelle Clarke should know better than to complain about slow news days; truly, it’s just tempting fate. But the resulting storm of murder, intrigue, and danger all in the name of investigative journalism is to our benefit. I enjoyed every page of Cover Shot, the fifth in the Headlines in High Heels mystery series.
Cover Shot is a great read; asking the question of what a man would do for love and how far any of us would go to save someone special to us. The actions of a gunman who just wants to save his wife’s life hit a very close target for Nichelle, who remembers all too vividly her own mother’s struggle with cancer. Her need to investigate who murdered a beloved and brilliant doctor and set up a grieving, terrified husband and father becomes more than a mission of a successful reporter; it becomes something personal – and puts her in the line of fire more than once.
But Nichelle isn’t only juggling headlines, story leads, and the demands of keeping the newspaper afloat and vital in the digital age; she’s also dodging bullets, stealing romantic interludes with her handsome lover, Joey, and trying to figure out how to have a friendship with a former flame who would like nothing more than to rekindle their romance. She’s bright, sharp, tenacious, and fierce – everything needed to create a memorable heroine and a hugely successful series.

About the Author
Her debut novel, FRONT PAGE FATALITY, was nominated for the Agatha Award for Best First Novel. COVER SHOT is the fifth in LynDee’s national bestselling Headlines in High Heels mystery series. The sixth is due out in Fall 2016.
LynDee adores her family, her readers, and enchiladas. She often works out tricky plot points while walking off the enchiladas. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is either playing with her children, working on her next novel, or admiring beautiful shoes she can’t wear.

AGATHA NOMINATED SERIES
It’s been a slow news month in Richmond, and crime reporter Nichelle Clarke is enjoying the downtime when ominous messages and a dead body kick things into high gear. And that’s before the guy with the rifle takes a hospital full of people hostage.
Up to the top of her knee-high Prada boots in leads, Nichelle finds her favorite detectives under pressure to make an arrest, but it doesn’t add up—and ignoring the “why” of this story could cost Nichelle the most important person in her life.
With too much to lose, a shot at the story of a lifetime, and a missing bullet that might be the key, landing this headline could save the day, but can Nichelle dig up the truth before the killer buries her with it?
