Life hasn’t been easy for Delphie, but there is no way she is ready to die at age 27–especially not by choking on a microwave burger while searching Google to see if it is made of real meat. Then again, heaven (if that’s where she is) seems a little . . . off somehow.
When a handsome man joins Delphie in the laundrette-styled waiting room, her Afterlife Therapist, Merritt, hatches a plan. She’ll send Delphie back to Earth for ten days. In that time, Delphie needs to track down that handsome man she accidentally met in heaven and get him to kiss her. Otherwise, Delphie will die again and must help Merritt with her afterlife matchmaking plans.
Delphie’s re-entrance to the land of the living–and her very time-bound and matter-of-life-and-death task–pushes her way out of her comfort zone in more ways than one. As she looks for Jonah (the handsome man from heaven), she finds new friends, support where she thought she was alone, and some very important reasons to live.
Delphie is a delightful breath of fresh air in the landscape of romantic fiction. Quirky and human–so very relatable. I spotted the plot twist coming, but even so, that didn’t dampen my enjoyment one bit. The Love of My Afterlife is a funny, poignant, and joy-filled celebration of life, love, and healing.
I’m trying to sing this title to the tune of Love of My Life by Queen and it’s not quite working LOL.
