I Hope This Finds You Well, by Natalie Sue

Everyone who has ever worked in an office or office-like setting will relate to I HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL. The coworker who is impossibly chipper and cheerful every day. The one who brings the smelliest food as lunch leftovers. The one who somehow skates by doing the absolute bare minimum. The boss who is the caricature of every Corporate Boss that has ever been written about or portrayed.

In this story, Jolen copes with her coworkers ingeniously: she adds sharp and snarky post scripts to her emails after changing the font color to white so that no one will ever know. Petty? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely! Until the day Jolene forgot to switch the font color before clicking send. Oops.

Now HR is involved, Jolene must take a class to address her behavior, and her emails are being monitored. But she also has one very unexpected thing: access to every single employee’s emails and direct messages…including her nemeses. The tables have officially turned, and Jolene is ready to take full advantage of this to ensure her own success and the downfall of those who have made her life miserable for years. She just doesn’t expect that what she learns about her colleagues will change everything, including how she feels about them all.

Author Natalie Sue‘s debut contemporary novel is a huge hit. I read it in one day and texted no less than five reading friends and told them to get it ASAP. Beyond the humor and vividly realistic workplace scenes, I HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL deals with the repercussions of trauma and secrets and how asking for help can be the bravest thing one can do.
