Give Me Space but Don’t Go Far: My Unlikely Friendship with Anxiety, by Haley Weaver

When it comes to anxiety, almost everyone can relate on some level. Those of us who struggle a little more all have varying triggers, sources, and coping mechanisms. Give Me Space by Don’t Go Far is the illustrated story of Haley Weaver‘s life with anxiety.

Haley shares her personal stories, from embarrassing to elating, with a great deal of vulnerability. She explores the roots of her feelings and honestly reveals missteps, mistakes, and valuable lessons learned.

Dealing with–living with–anxiety, depression, and panic attacks can produce a lot of shame and fear. What if others find out? What will they think? How will knowing change the way they think, see, or feel about me? I admire Haley for being so brave and transparent. I truly believe that we all need to work together to break through the stigmas around mental health care. Empathy, understanding, and compassion can go a long way to better health and healing.
