Does it Hurt? by H.D. Carlton

I was looking for something a little different to read. And, well, I certainly found that in H.D. Carlton’s DOES IT HURT?!

Sawyer is a deeply troubled, traumatized young woman running from her past and the possibility of an even worse future. Desperate and alone, she does what she must do in order to survive: seduce men and steal their identities. After landing in Australia, Sawyer meets Enzo–a sexy Italian man who just might turn out to be much, much more than she can handle.

Sawyer and Enzo’s one-night stand explodes in twisted, dark violence when the pair unexpectedly meet again. A storm at sea strands the two on an island with an odd (to say the very least!) lighthouse keeper who literally locks them in their room at night.

The storyline is filled with things I would have never seen coming, and, in truth, it’s all quite improbable. But isn’t that what fiction should do? Take us away from the expected and sweep us up into a whole different world? Trust me: this book is NOT for everyone. There’s mystery and romance, sure, but it’s not your everyday mystery and romance. It’s more twisted than that: elements of horror and abuse and rage. Definitely dark. Definitely something outside of my norm. Definitely, something I won’t forget.
