I always enjoy a good true crime story, and this one is particularly captivating.
Two sisters seek medical treatment from an alternative medical practitioner in early 1900s Washington State. When only one sister survives the radical “treatment,” she seeks out justice in the court system in memory of a beloved sister. The doctor’s “treatment” amounts to death by starvation and is all a cover for theft.
Author Gregg Olsen recreates the haunting and nefarious circumstances vividly enough to make my skin crawl as I listened to narrator Jennifer Van Dyck. Definitely a chillingly memorable true crime thriller.
