I had mixed feelings about Eyes of Autumn at first. As I began reading, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The plot seemed a little dull and the writing a bit clumsy. But I’m very glad that I kept reading – my interest and the plot intrigue grew with each chapter and development.

Eyes of Autumn is the second book in a series – The Marcel Experience. I have not read the first book (Portrait of Rage), but it didn’t feel like I had missed anything critical to my enjoyment and understanding of the story. Part romance, part paranormal mystery, the plot moves at a brisk pace. Legal assistant Katie Hammond meets an intriguingly handsome man on the same day she quits her job. She and her best friend Angie take advantage of the opportunity to get away to Angie’s family cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When the ladies run into Marcus – the aforementioned intriguingly handsome man – there, the recent past, the distant past, and the future rapidly intersect and entwine.

It took me a little while to really buy into the relationship between Katie and Marcus but, once I did, everything kind of fell into place. I ‘m pleasantly surprised at how much I ended up enjoying Eyes of Autumn and I will be eagerly waiting to read what happens next.
